The Friends of the Rollright Stones

The Friends of the Rollright Stones have 3 aims -
  • to promote and aid the care, conservation and integrity of the Rollright Stones and their environment.
  • to promote and aid the care, conservation and integrity of other Ancient Sites and their environment.
  • to support the objectives of the Rollright Trust.
Raising money for new projects at the Stones
Examples of this have included - helping with the cost of the much needed erosion work, helping with the purchase of the Whipering Knights field, printing pamphlets, paying for new gates, refurbishing the warden's lodge, and anything else that needs doing to promote the long-term care and conservation of the Stones.

Organising fund-raising events at the Stones

....and elsewhere. While there is no wish to turn the Rollrights into a regular entertainments venue, we do recognise that it offers an inspiring and unusual space which can be used in conjunction with sympathetic events to offer a unique and powerful experience to the visitor, whilst maintaining the integrity of the site.

Publishing regular newsletters

Our newsletter is the three times yearly publication of the Friends of the Rollright Stones. It covers all things vaguely megalithic - archaeology, earth mysteries, spiritual, spooky/wyrd/personal stuff, folk-lore, environmental and conservation issues. Basically, anything and everything that people have views on as long as they are not libellous or too judgemental.

Publicising other projects

All over the country there are ancient monuments and sites of special beauty under threat from commercial development or neglect. We would hope to be able to publicise and help these sites and, if required, pass on the dubious benefit of what we've learnt to other local initiatives.

Becoming a Friend
