Hello everyone! My name is Cristina Mosconi and I gained my Masters in Archaeology for Screen Media at University of Bristol. As part of my dissertation, I developed a tour guide app for the Rollright Stones.
The app has been designed as a new interpretative tool for the site. It contains lots of information about the archaeology, history and folklore of the Stones, as well as new insights for each of the monuments. It includes pictures of the excavations in the 1980s, finds, comparisons with similar monuments in the UK, and a special audio tour with the archaeologist who led the excavation of the site.
The aim of the app is offer to all visitors to the Rollright Stones a new and easy way to explore the site and learn more about it in an enjoyable manner. The app is not geo-located so you can download it to your phone and play it wherever you are: you can have a look at it and listen to the audio tour while having a cup of tea at home!
As we develop it, you can access all the new content, simply by updating the app before playing it.
At this stage, the app is still in its testing phase but having received a warm welcome by visitors we are developing it as a permanent facility for the Rollright Stones.
To develop it further, I will appreciate every comment you have about the app, so if you have tried it please send me feedback via the Contact page.
How to download the app:
