Artists impression of the King Stone inside a new wildflower meadow. Note the great view over the valley!

The Rollright Trust has had a one-off, not to be repeated opportunity to purchase the King Stone and 3.2 acres of land to create a natural wildflower meadow around this well-known ancient monument.

We are not just adding the King to his Men and his Knights in the Trust’s ownership, but also at least two Bronze Age barrows, the site of a rich Saxon burial, a cold war bunker, and of course the famous view over Long Compton.  This was where, according to legend, an ambitious King and his followers were turned to stone by a wicked witch.

Please support the Trust’s acquisition of this key part of the Rollright Stones complex and our ambition of creating a beautiful wildflower meadow.  We welcome any contributions large or small.
